dmNorthTV plays … Dice Throne

dmNorthTV and Guests play board games!!  Saturday nights, we get together with friends and try and play a stream friendly board game.  It is usually a fun get together with great people.  A time to enjoy to social aspect of gaming that we are lacking right now.

Here, you will find our short and sweet review on the board game we have played from each of the players.  We stream the gameplay on the dmNorthTV Twitch channel every other Saturday.  Come hangout and say “Hi” of you get a chance.

This week, we played through Dice Throne: Season 2.  Dice Throne is a dice rolling and tactical card play game by Roxley games.  You use unique heroes with special abilities to reduce your Opponent’s life to zero and claim the Dice Throne!  Roll five dice for your hero and use the results to attack your opponent to bring down their life but be aware, there are cards that can mess with your plans.  Think of this like a “battle yahtzee” type game.  Different combos of dice rolls will unleash different attacks.

This week, we were joined by comicsmike to see who would claim the throne.  You can take a look at our gameplay video on our YouTube channel, or scroll on down to see what we thought of the game.

Final Thoughts About . . . Dice Throne

Here, we will give you some basic thoughts about the game we played.  This is by no means meant to be an in-depth review of the game, as there are already lots of those out there.  This is just a “what did we think of it and would it be a good board game night game” type thing.  If you want to see something more in-depth, please let us know in the comments below.

Rating System

  • 5 Meeples: Fantastic Game, A must-play game!
  • 4 Meeples: Great Game, minor flaws.
  • 3 Meeples: Good Game, some weaknesses.
  • 2 Meeples: OK Game, needs work.
  • 1 Meeple: Awful Game. Do not play this unless you want to punish yourself.

The wheel of fate gave me The Tactician as my character.  While I don’t remember the details of the charcter, it was enjoyable to play.  Like any other game, the more you play a given character, the more comfortable you will become with it.  The mechanics of the game itself are very simple with a Yahtzee feel it it.  The card abilitys amp it up a bit and make the decisions a little more interesting.  While designed a a basic 2-Player “duel” type game, it worked well with 3 players.  This is a solid addition to my board game night.

If you like dice rolling and attacking your opponents, then this game is for you. It’s all luck. I played as the Artificer and it was my first time playing as him. He was a bit hard to use his ability to full potential as he had bots to manage. I also need to use my cards a bit better too. Once you play often and know the characters, if would be a different experience. I had fun playing!

This game is a Yahtzee style dice rolling game that you try to beat up your opponents. I got to play Seraph character. I found this game enjoyable.
